Guiliano de’ Medici (1453 – 1478) co-ruled Florence with his elder brother Lorenzo.il.Magnifico the statesman and patron of the Italian Renaissance. The younger brother Guiliano was the golden boy of the Medici family. At a jousting tournament in 1475 Guiliano carried a banner painted by Sandro Botticelli depicting Simonetta Vespucci as Athene the goddess of war and wisdom.

Guiliano was assassinated at mass on Easter Sunday (April 26, 1478) in the Cathedral of Florence. He was 25 years old. The infamous murder is known as the Pazzi Conspiracy.
